Dragons

Combat of Giants - Dragons

This is quite a fearsome collection: no fewer than 30 dragons, divided into four different tribes of 7 dragons each, plus 2 special dragons.

They are accompanied by gems (one for each dragon) and 62 combat cards.

To be honest, the collection is not bad. The only thing I do not like is that the dragons look very similar, to the point that unless you check the number between their hind legs, it is difficult to tell them apart.

On top of that, two entries in the list that comes with the map are swapped, which makes things even more confusing.

In addition to the figures, the dragons come with an adhesive sticker that goes into an album as a catalogue and also serves as a combat card. I still need to decide how to handle that, and I also need to get the album.

How to play the cards

Before starting, there must be at least 2 players, and each player must have at least 2 Dragon cards and 5 Gem cards in their deck.

Preparation: each player separates their cards into two different piles. Once separated, the Dragon cards are shuffled together, and the Gem cards are shuffled together as well.

Each player will therefore have one pile of Dragon cards and one pile of Gem cards on the table. Without looking, each player must select one of their Dragon cards.

Once the card has been chosen, the player may look at it without showing it to the opponent. The Dragon card is then placed face up on top of the remaining Dragon cards.

The first Dragon card chosen becomes the Leader Dragon. The remaining Dragon cards are the challenger dragons.

Now take a card from the Gem pile without showing it to the opponent and place it on top of the Gem pile.

Create a graveyard area with two separate piles, one for Dragon cards and one for Gem cards. Played Gem cards and defeated Dragon cards are placed there.

The battle: once both players have chosen a Gem card, they reveal it face up on the table at the same time.

The card with the higher power wins, and the dragon that takes the damage loses one health point (one heart). If the card has a Gem bonus, it can be applied as an extra in combat.

When a dragon loses a health point, the player checks the side of the Dragon card to see how much health, shown as hearts, remains.

Once the Gem card has been played and the battle resolved, the Gem cards are moved to the Gem pile in the graveyard.

The game continues in the same way until a Leader Dragon is defeated or both players run out of Gem cards.

If a Leader Dragon is defeated, the player may choose any remaining follower dragon and continue the battle in the same way.

The first player to run out of follower Dragon cards loses the battle, so the other player wins.

If both players run out of Gem cards, the Gem cards in the graveyard are shuffled and each player draws 5 of them at random.
